Colorado congressmen call for sweeping review of reporting system to NCIC
DENVER – Defense Secretary James Mattis has ordered the Inspector General for the Department of Defense to conduct a review of what missteps led to Devin Kelley being able to purchase weapons after an assault conviction while in the military, while some congressmen from Colorado are calling for him to conduct a full review of the reporting system.
On Tuesday, Sen. Michael Bennet (D), and Reps. Ed Perlmutter (D) and Mike Coffman (R) called for the Department of Defense to conduct a full review of the reporting procedures to the National Crime Information Center. Continue reading

3 female Lake County Sheriff’s Office employees allege undersheriff sexually harassed them
LAKE COUNTY, Colo. – Three female employees of the sheriff’s office in this sparsely-populated central Colorado county say they have been repeatedly sexually harassed by the undersheriff, and that the harassment has continued despite an investigation and pleas for it to stop.
The women, who work as 911 dispatchers for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, say Undersheriff Fernando Mendoza has continually made lewd comments to them and sent them inappropriate text messages—sometimes, even, while they are on duty. Continue reading

Texas shooting: Devin Kelley bought 2 guns and was charged with beating, dragging dog in Colorado
DENVER – The man accused of killing 26 people and wounding 20 others at a Texas church on Sunday bought two weapons in Colorado and at one point was charged with animal cruelty in Colorado Springs for beating and dragging his dog.
Devin Patrick Kelley, 26, was living at a trailer park in Colorado Springs in 2014, according to state voter registration records. Continue reading
Accused Walmart killer Scott Ostrem charged with 6 counts of murder, 30 counts of attempted murder
ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. – Scott Allen Ostrem, the man accused of shooting and killing three people at a Thornton Walmart last week, faces six counts of first-degree murder, 30 counts of attempted first-degree murder and a sentencing enhancer if he’s convicted for the shooting.

Man wanted in ’78 Denver murder arrested after miscommunication led to early release
DENVER – A 60-year-old homeless man wanted for murdering a man in Denver in 1978 was arrested Friday evening. However, this was not the first time Shawn Winkler was placed into police custody in connection with the cold case murder in the past two weeks.
Winkler was briefly in custody earlier this week, but a misunderstanding involving the court and district attorney’s office put him back on the street. Details of Friday’s arrest were not released. Continue reading
Family of Golden man killed, allegedly by couple linked to Utah murder, releases statement
GOLDEN, Colo. – The family of 63-year-old Mitchell Ingle, who was allegedly killed by a couple also linked to the murder of a University of Utah student earlier this week, on Friday issued a statement remembering him as a loving family member and more.
“Mitchell Ingle was a loving father, brother, husband, grandfather, and friend to all. He enjoyed skiing, boating, four wheeling, and camping. We will miss his contagious laugh, humor, and easygoing personality,” the family statement said. Continue reading
All 3 victims of Thornton Walmart shooting identified
THORNTON, Colo. – The three victims of Wednesday’s shooting at a Thornton Walmart were identified Thursday afternoon by the coroner’s office for Adams and Broomfield counties.
They are 52-year-old Pamela Marques of Denver, 66-year-old Carlos Moreno of Thornton, and 26-year-old Victor Vasquez of Denver. Continue reading
Thornton Walmart shooting suspect makes court appearance, will be formally charged Monday
DENVER – The man accused of shooting and killing three people at a Thornton Walmart Wednesday night will likely learn if prosecutors will seek the death penalty against him Monday afternoon.
Scott Allen Ostrem, 47, made his first court appearance Friday morning in Adams County. Formal charges have yet to be filed against him, but his arrest warrant carried first-degree murder after deliberation charges. Continue reading
