BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. – Authorities arrested the teenager accused of beating an older Boulder County woman nearly to death Thursday evening in Broomfield.

DENVER – The Donald Trump campaign again descended on Colorado Thursday to stump for the Republican nominee.
Trump’s daughter, attended a breakfast at the Colorado Women’s Alliance in Denver before heading to a tour of Liberty Common High School in Fort Collins.
Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence, spoke at a town hall meeting at the Hillside Community Center in Colorado Springs around 2 p.m.

Gov. Hickenlooper is ‘sympathetic’ to proposed minimum wage hike; study says it will benefit Colo.
DENVER – Colorado’s governor says he remains “sympathetic” to a ballot measure that would increase the state’s minimum wage to $12 an hour by 2020 on the same day a report from a consortium of state colleges and universities noted the measure would benefit most of the state’s minimum wage workers.
The report from the University of Denver and Colorado Women’s College, in collaboration with The Women’s Foundation of Colorado, says the state’s gross domestic product (GDP) would increase by $400 million and 20 percent of Coloradans would see household income increases. Continue reading
Monitor says APD use-of-force investigations out of line, but other areas have improved
The Albuquerque Police Department continues to struggle in implementing new use-of-force policies on the street and administrative levels but is improving in several other areas of focus under the settlement agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, independent monitor Dr. James Ginger wrote in the agreement’s third progress report.
The 352-page report, which is the third of 10 that will be released under the settlement agreement, was released Friday and covers the period of December 2015 through the end of March 2016. The remaining reports will be issued incrementally over the remainder of the 41 months of the settlement agreement. Continue reading
NM Supreme Court: No legal ‘right to die’ for terminally-ill patients
The New Mexico Supreme Court on Thursday struck down a 2014 district court decision that ruled terminally-ill patients in the state have a legal right to aid in dying.
The 2014 decision by 2nd Judicial Court Judge Nan Nash ruled that a 1963 state statute that made it a fourth-degree felony for a physician to help another person take their own life did not apply to physicians who give a lethal dose of medication to a terminally-ill patient. Continue reading
Dozens of homes, structures lost as Dog Head Fire grows to 16,000+ acres

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Twenty-four homes and 21 other structures had burned as of Thursday night in Bernalillo and Torrance counties as the Dog Head Fire grew to more than 16,000 acres during the day in the northern Manzano Mountains.
The fire remains uncontained and mandatory evacuations remain in place for several parts of Bernalillo and Torrance counties. Continue reading
Authorities ID bodies found in grave in Sandoval Co.; 3 suspects in custody
Law enforcement and medical investigators have positively identified two of the three bodies found in a shallow grave southeast of the San Felipe Casino just over a week ago, and say they believe they know the identity of the third body.
Sandoval Co. Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Keith Elder on Thursday identified the bodies as those of 32-year-old John Santistevan and 48-year-old Geraldine Sena. Lt. Elder said the third body is likely that of 25-year-old Samuel Sena, but the Office of the Medical Investigator is working to positively identify it as Sena. Continue reading
Clinton wins New Mexico Democratic primary
Hillary Clinton won the New Mexico Democratic primary Tuesday, drawing 51.54 percent of the vote statewide, according to numbers that are virtually finalized. Bernie Sanders drew 48.46 percent of the vote.

Trump wins New Mexico GOP primary
Donald Trump won the New Mexico Republican primary Tuesday, drawing 70.7 percent of the vote statewide, according to finalized numbers.
With all of 1,492 total precincts partially reporting, Trump had garnered 70.7 percent of the vote. He was followed by Ted Cruz (13.3 percent); John Kasich (7.6 percent); Ben Carson (3.7 percent); Jeb Bush (3.4 percent) and Carly Fiorina (1.5 percent). Continue reading
