4 arrested or cited at ABQ Trump rally; police seek info for more arrests
Four people were arrested or cited and about a dozen were detained at the Albuquerque Donald Trump rally Tuesday, Albuquerque police said Wednesday.
Three people arrested and cited were all inside the Albuquerque Convention Center, where Trump’s rally was held. Another was arrested outside.
Police say two juveniles inside the rally were cited and released to their parents.
30-year-old Tylina Hardy was arrested inside the rally and charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing police.
19-year-old Jose Cuevas was arrested outside the rally during the protest and was charged with disorderly conduct.
Albuquerque police say the dozen who were detained were all escorted out of the area.
As the protest at the Convention Center escalated and subsequent violence in downtown Albuquerque continued, APD says six officers were injured.
Spokeswoman Celina Espinoza said all six suffered injuries to their faces, noses, arms and legs after being hit by large rocks. She said every APD officer who responded was hit by rocks or debris. Espinoza said they were all treated at the scene.
One officer was treated for smoke inhalation after fires were lit by protesters, Espinoza said. She added that one deputy was also injured, but said she had no injury totals from New Mexico State Police or Rio Rancho police.
Espinoza said more arrests are likely from the violence that occurred later in the evening, after the early peaceful protest. APD is asking for people with video of others vandalizing property, fighting or throwing rocks at police officers and horses to contact them at 242-COPS.
APD said Tuesday all of its horses were checked out by veterinarians Wednesday and are OK.
