13-year-old accused of Manual High School shooting charged as juvenile with attempted murder
DENVER – The 13-year-old boy accused of shooting three people at Manual High School on Thanksgiving faces juvenile charges of attempted first-degree murder, among others.
The Denver District Attorney’s Office filed the attempted murder charge, as well as two counts of first-degree assault and one count of second-degree assault, against the teenager Friday morning.
The district attorney’s office has not identified the teenager. His preliminary hearing in the case has been set for Jan. 22.
Officers took the boy into custody Sunday afternoon—three days after he allegedly shot a woman and two juveniles in the parking lot of the Denver school.
Police said the boy walked up to a white car parked at the high school and fired multiple rounds into the vehicle before fleeing on foot eastbound.
An adult woman was shot in the leg, one juvenile was shot in the arm and the second juvenile “sustained multiple gunshot wounds” following the shooting, according to Denver Police Department spokesperson John White said.
White said none of the injured were students at Manual High School.
Police said Sunday they believed there may be other suspects in the shooting, but none have been identified thus far. A motive for the shooting has not been released.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Denver Metro Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-7867.
